Indigenous Peoples of Canada
The next session of the French SIG in hybrid format (held in person at the SGNO centre and via Zoom) is scheduled for Wednesday, June 24, 2026, at 7 p.m. During this meeting, Ms. Sheila Genaille will give a presentation (in English) titled Indigenous Peoples of Canada. Ms. Genaille is a 7th generation Métis, historian and researcher. The presentation includes: Indigenous Rights; Collision of European and Indigenous Peoples; Cultural Diversity Indians, Inuit, Métis; 20th Century Métis Activism; Pretendians; Wannabees; What’s in a Name; Questions or comments.

Registration
If you prefer to attend in person, no registration is required. Simply come to the SGNO centre, Room 102 at La Cité francophone in Edmonton (8627 91 Street [Rue Marie-Anne Gaboury])Members of the general public are welcome to attend one free session for each of the AGS Special Interest Groups. Membership with the AGS is required to join more frequently.
